What does this mean for your planning?
The phrase “business day” depends on the organization. Here it means Monday through Friday only. A business open on Saturdays needs a different calendar; a bank or public office may close on dates that this table counts.
The one- or two-day difference between years matters when comparing annual scheduled capacity. It does not automatically change a salaried employee’s annual compensation. Keep payroll policy separate from calendar arithmetic.

Methodology and limitations
Count every Monday–Friday date in the Gregorian calendar, including both endpoints. Multiply weekdays by eight hours. No public holidays, workplace closures or personal leave are deducted.

Common questions
Does every year have 260 working days?
No. Fifty-two complete weeks contain 260 weekdays, but a calendar year has one or two extra dates. Their weekdays determine the final count.
Why does a leap year not always have 262 weekdays?
A leap year adds two dates beyond 52 complete weeks. Weekend extra dates do not increase a Monday–Friday count.
Can I subtract 11 holidays from every year?
Only if those are 11 distinct dates on your selected working weekdays and your workplace closes on each. Use the actual observed dates instead of a universal deduction.
