Calculate business days and planned work hours between two dates. Choose working weekdays, exclude your own holiday dates and download a CSV.
Formula and assumptions
Workdays = included dates that match a selected working weekday and are not excluded. Planned hours = workdays × paid hours per day. Both start and end dates count.
September 7–18, 2026 contains ten Monday–Friday dates. Excluding September 7 leaves nine workdays. At eight hours per day, the planned total is 72 hours.
Choose the weekdays your team works, then enter specific closure dates. A Saturday-only service and a Monday–Friday office should not use the same week definition. The calculator does not decide whether a public holiday is a paid day or a closure. A date on an unselected weekday is already excluded and is not subtracted a second time.
Read the daily breakdown before using the total
The table identifies each included date as a workday, a nonworking weekday or an excluded date. Review that list for misplaced dates, then download it for your planning notes. Fixed daily hours are useful for capacity budgets; variable shifts and partial working days need a timecard or a separate adjustment.
Frequently asked questions
Are the start and end dates counted?
Yes. A one-day range returns one workday when that date is a selected weekday and is not excluded. To count only days after the start, enter the following date as your start.
Does the calculator know US federal holidays?
No. Enter the actual dates your organization closes. Federal observance, bank availability and an employer’s working calendar can differ.
Can I use a Sunday–Thursday workweek?
Yes. Clear Friday and Saturday, then select Sunday through Thursday. Any combination of working weekdays is supported.
Does this calculate working hours between timestamps?
No. It counts whole working dates and multiplies by fixed paid hours per day. It does not prorate the first or last day.
