The January 31 example

A monthly schedule anchored on January 31 produces February 28 in a non-leap year, March 31 and April 30. It does not add thirty days repeatedly, which would drift through the calendar.

Leap years

In a leap year, February has 29 days. A monthly 31st-day anchor therefore maps to February 29. The tool uses calendar dates, so the varying month length is handled directly.

Confirm the employer convention

Some employers choose a prior business day or another fixed rule instead of the calendar month end. The tool does not automatically apply bank holidays or banking cutoffs. Export the baseline and reconcile it with payroll.

What does February do to a payday on the 30th?

Under this generator’s clamping convention it becomes February’s last day. Leap years and ordinary years have different February endings.

Is last day of month the same as last business day?

No. The last calendar day can be a weekend or holiday. A last-business-day schedule needs an applicable holiday calendar and a separate adjustment rule.

What does a January 31 anchor produce in February?

The monthly date model uses February’s final date: February 28 in an ordinary year or February 29 in a leap year. It does not move the date for weekends.
